Prishtina, 20 February 2017 – Minister of European Integration, Ms. Mimoza Ahmetaj, hosted today a delegation from Italy led by the Italian ambassador to Kosovo, Mr. Piero Cristoforo Sardi, together with the Members of Parliamentary Committee for Foreign Affairs of Italy, Ms. Tidei Marietta, Deputy Chairperson of the Committee and Mr. Emanuele Scagiuzzi, Committee Member.
Upon this occasion, Minister Ahmetaj briefed participants on current processes that Kosovo is going through, respectively, advancing with the European Agenda and undertaken reforms as part of the European Agenda.
The Minister discussed with participants also the importance of the European integration process towards Kosovo’s state-building. At the same time, accomplishment of this process is a request and desire of citizens’ of Kosovo and is older than the state of Kosovo itself.
On their part the Italian MPs emphasized the importance that Kosovo and the region advancement has for Italy with regards to European agenda as a precondition for ensuring peace and stability. Also, from the Berlin process, that is going to be chaired this year by Italy, they do expect that the regional relationships are going to be focused on economic development and improvement of citizens’ welfare, since without economic development the advancement of European integration will be also affected. At the same time, the entry into force of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement for Kosovo is seen with optimism by Italy.
MPs also confirmed that finalization of the Visa Liberalisation process is important to Italy, by confirming that they will support Kosovo in the processes through which the country is facing.
