Vienna, 29 January 2019 – The Minister of European Integration of Kosovo, Dhurata Hoxha, during her stay in Vienna met with the State Secretary of the Austrian Federal Ministry of the Interior, Karoline Edtstadler, with whom she discussed about the integration process and the fulfilment of visa liberalisation requirements.
“This meeting with Ms. Edtstadler was an opportunity to reiterate the arguments about our achievements in the integration process, the reforms we have undertaken so far, our progress in implementing the SAA, the implementation of international agreements on repatriation, border control and security, the significant reduction of crimes related to trafficking in human beings and illegal migration, and a range of actions that jointly contribute to strengthening the rule of law,” said Hoxha.
Further, Minister Hoxha said that, “Refusal to grant visa liberalisation to Kosovo citizens is unfair considering that we have fulfilled all the liberalisation requirements. Consequently, we rightly expect the matter to be submitted to the Council of Ministers for approval as soon as possible”, adding that the citizens of our country have full confidence in the Euro-Atlantic values and integration process, so delays in this regard are unreasonable.
On her side, State Secretary Edtstadler reconfirmed Austria’s support to Kosovo in all its processes, including membership in international organizations and visa liberalisation, stating that the Western Balkans is considered as a whole when it comes to EU interests and integration values.
