Minister Çollaku hosted Mr. Andrew Forde, Acting Head of the Council of Europe in Kosovo

Prishtina, 22 January 2015 – Minister of European Integration, Bekim Çollaku, had an introductory meeting with the Acting Head of the Council of Europe in Prishtina, Mr. Andrew Forde, and also discussed about current developments in Kosovo, the process of European integration and Kosovo’s membership in the Council of Europe.

In the context of discussions about the process of European integration, the focus was on the most actual issues, such as the process towards signing of the Stabilization and Association Agreement MSA and advancements in meeting the criteria for visa liberalization. On this occasion Minister Çollaku said: “Kosovo is about to finalize meeting its obligations and now it expects that Brussels recognizes these achievements and concretizes these actions by signing the agreements”.

Minister Çollaku also restated that “institutions of the Republic of Kosovo are working with the priority on the European agenda and we are on the right path towards achieving the goals in this regard. At the same time, the people of Kosovo expect that the Stabilization and Association agreement is signed soon, so Kosovo will be one more step closer to membership. As in the visa liberalization process, Kosovo has met most of the criteria deriving from the roadmap and we soon expect positive comments. We except from the Council of Europe support in the application process and membership as a full member”.

For Kosovo’s achievements in these processes, Minister Çollaku also thanked Mr. Forde on behalf of the institution he represents, since Kosovo so far has had the full support and will make sure that this cooperation continues in the future as well.

On the other side, Acting Head of the Council of Europe in Prishtina Mr. Forde, complimenting the achievements of Kosovo said: “We will continue to support and assist Kosovo with all the instruments available to us in various areas, such as Human Rights, Governance and Rule of Law”.
