Minister Çitaku hosted the German Ambassador in Kosovo Mr. Blomeyer

Prishtina, November 2, 2012- Minister for European Integration, Vlora Çitaku met with the newly appointed Ambassador of the German Federal Republic in Kosovo Mr. Peter Blomeyer.

With ambassador Blomeyer, Minister Çitaku has discussed for the developments in Kosovo as well the advancement of Kosovo into European Integration.

Minister Çitaku Minister expressed gratitude on behalf of the citizens and the Government of the Republic of Kosovo for the great support that Germany has provided and continues to provide for a democratic development of Kosovo, as well as in the process of European integration of our country. Minister also assured the German Ambassador that the process of normalization of relations between the state of Kosovo and Serbia, and also the entire region will continue for the benefit of all citizens and the development of the region as a whole.

Also, Minister said that “for Kosovo, Germany has been one of the main supporters in our long journey to freedom, independence, and is now the main supporter in our long journey towards European integration.

At the same time, we agreed with the Ambassador that the European agenda has no alternative; European integration of Kosovo and the region has no alternative, but this process will require many reforms, internal transformation processes where many of them will not be easy, nor popular “, stated Minister  Çitaku.

German Ambassador, Mr. Blomeyer, praised the progress that is being achieved in Kosovo reaffirming Germany’s further support for the state of Kosovo. Ambassador Blomeyer said “I want to assure you that the German government supports the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, and we appeal to the political spectrum in Kosovo and the citizens of Kosovo to support the dialogue which we see as the only alternative.” Ambassador said that “Kosovo has chosen Europe as its destination, which is what we want for the Balkans, and you are very welcome, and it is long and difficult journey that also the other countries have gone through.”

Ambassador Blomeyer was grateful to Minister Çitaku and to all Kosovo citizens for the hospitality they have showed during his arrival two weeks ago.
