Deputy Minister Ilazi: SSA brings economic and political benefits to Kosovo

Ferizaj, 22 July 2016 – In the light of the awareness campaign for the Stabilization and Association Agreement, today the Ministry of the European Integration held an informational conference in Ferizaj with the aim of informing the citizens and municipal officials about the content of this agreement.

At this meeting, Deputy Minister of European Integration, Ramadan Ilazi, emphasized that this is a historical agreement and upon its entry into force, Kosovo, just as other countries in the region will formally be part of accession process to the European Union.

“Upon the entry into force of the SAA, when we say that Kosovo has a future in the European Union, this is no longer just a goal or a statement, but this is a contract that we have signed with the European Union, which ensures the future of our country in European family “stated Deputy Minister Ilazi.

According to him, the process of SAA implementation requires cooperation and coordination of all stakeholders, including municipalities, civil society and business community.
“Given that the European agenda represents a social and political consensus, then this cooperation is not only an option, but an obligation for all of us”, stated Deputy Minister Ilazi.
He added that the progress of the Republic of Kosovo on its European path will be achieved with the proper implementation of the SAA and this should be our focus.

Deputy Minister Ilazi stated that Kosovo municipalities are crucial in the process of implementing European reforms and in this regard all institutions should have a good cooperation.

Part of the panel at this conference was the Mayor of Ferizaj, Muharrem Svarça, Head of the Slovak Office in Kosovo, Lubomir Batary, and Deputy Minister of Local Government Administration, Bajram Gecaj.

This was the third informational conference regarding the SAA, following the ones that took place in the municipalities of Prishtina region and in the municipality of Peja, which were organized by the Ministry of European Integration in cooperation with the Ministry of Local Government Administration, through the support provided by GIZ.
