Brussels, 25 November 2016 – Prime Minister of Republic of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, attended the first meeting of the Stabilisation and Association Council EU-Kosovo.
Prime Minister Mustafa, in his opening speech said that this meeting is of great importance in the way of Republic of Kosovo’s European path.
Prime Minister Mustafa spoke about the importance of the SAA, expressing the commitment of Kosovo to implement and undertake reforms and to intensify political dialogue and cooperation with the EU.
“;Kosovo has not sought and does not require short path towards the EU but requires equal opportunity like all Western Balkan countries, to realize the vision of a future in the European Union,”; said Prime Minister Mustafa, stressing the importance of visa liberalization for Kosovo citizens.
Further, during the meeting were discussed issues related to the implementation so far of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement as well as processes and other important developments in Kosovo and in relation to European integration.
The Kosovo delegation led by Prime Minister Mustafa, consists of Ministers Enver Hoxhaj, Abdullah Hoti, Skender Hyseni, Hykmete Bajrami and deputy minister Anila Statovci.
The meeting was chaired by the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, while part of the EU delegation is also the Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Negotiations for Enlargement, Johannes Hahn and other high representatives of European Union institutions.
Also, earlier was signed agreement between Kosovo and the EU to Kosovo’s participation in EU programs, by Minister Enver Hoxhaj and High Representative Federica Mogherini.
In this case, the High Representative Mogherini and Minister Hoxhaj appreciated the great importance of this agreement for Kosovo, which opens Kosovo great opportunities for participation in EU programs.
