The next meeting on the integration of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities is held

Prishtina, 10 March 2014 – Minister of European Integration, Vlora Çitaku organized the next meeting with representatives of civil society working in the field of integration of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities in Kosovo.

This meeting aimed at discussing approved documents package as well discussing issues that affect Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities, the opportunity for better cooperation between the Institutions and Civil Society.

During the meeting is also discussed on the “Priority Framework”, a document which was approved after many discussions and as such requires hard work and responsibility by all parties.

Civil society representatives expressed that meetings of this type are very important in order to better coordination between civil society and institutions, among the most discussed matters was the need for greater commitment in the integration of communities in Kosovo.

Minister Çitaku addressed to the audience that she is extremely interested to increase cooperation with civil society so that the process of integration of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptians communities in Kosovo society to be advanced as much.

On this occasion, the Minister stated that:” progress has been made in implementing the Strategy and Action Plan for the Integration of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities, but this does not mean that our work here. Me, as Chairperson of the Interagency Steering Committee have the political will to extent and accelerate further the integration process of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities into Kosovo society.
I would also urge from you as civil society this willingness and commitment, so together we can have better results in achieving our common goals, which are positive changes for lives and well-being of communities. Always, when there are more actors in a “team” that have the same goal.

Civil society representatives were grateful for today’s meeting and welcomed the willingness of the Minister to push forward the integration process of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities into Kosovo society.
