The Government adopts a draft regulation on functioning and representation of Kosovo institutions in the Stabilisation and Association Structures

Prishtina, 16 September 2016 – Today, the Government of Kosovo has adopted a draft Regulation on functioning and representation of the Institutions of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo in the Stabilisation and Association Structures, which determines the functioning, representation, duties and responsibilities of the Kosovo institutions within the Stabilisation and Association Structures.

Deputy Minister for European Integration, Mr. Ramadan Ilazi during his presentation for approval of this draft regulation in the government’s cabinet emphasized that the Stabilisation and Association Structures will be institutional mechanisms that will be serving for coordination, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of fulfilment of duties and obligations deriving from the Stabilisation and Association Agreement between the Republic of Kosovo and the European Union.

Deputy Minister Ilazi informed that the Stabilisation and Association structures comprise of: Council for Stabilisation and Association, Committee for Stabilisation and Association; Subcommittees for Stabilisation and Association, as follows: Subcommittee on Trade, Industry, Customs and Taxes; Subcommittee on Agriculture and Fishery, Subcommittee on Internal Market and Competition; Subcommittee on Economic Affairs, Finance and Statistics; Subcommittee on Justice, Freedom and Security; Subcommittee on Innovation, Information Society and Social Policy; Subcommittee on Transport, Energy, Environment and Regional Development; as well as Special Groups for Stabilisation and Association, respectively, the Special Group on Public Administration Reform and Special Group for Normalization of Relations between Kosovo and Serbia.

He has also emphasized that these institutional structures are required by the Stabilisation and Association Agreement between the Republic of Kosovo and the European Union.

Adoption of this regulation opens the way for the first meeting of the Council of SAA in October of this year that will mark the advancement of relations between Kosovo and EU, confirming once again the European future of Kosovo.
