Regular meeting of the task force for european integration was held

TFEI and Thematic Tables intend to include the contribution of different stakeholders in the process of European integration, and separately aim to derive a diagnostic document as well as a strategy regarding the process of European Integration of Kosovo.  This meeting was chaired by the Minister of European Integration, (co-chairman of TFEI), with the participation of the Chairman of the Parliamentary Group for European Integration Mr. Lutfi Haziri (co-chairman of TFEI), Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Mr. Peter Blomeyer, Head of the Political, Economical and Integration Unit Mr. Thomas Gnocchi, as well as other stakeholders in government, academia, civil society, media and others with an interest in the process of European Integration.  On this occasion Minister Çitaku stated that within the framework of TFEI and Thematic Tables, and especially in the process of drafting of diagnosis and strategy from these mechanisms “a good will, commitment, and the contribution of all is necessary. We are obliged to respond as best as we can to the expectations of the society by contributing in the improvement of formal and institutional infrastructure”. Heads of the Thematic Tables elaborated the progress within the framework of each Thematic Table, where among others were mentioned the identified challenges such as: difficulties in law enforcement, increase of the requirements for the establishment of infrastructure and mechanisms for the fulfilment of obligations in the process of integration; strengthening of administrative capacities, economic development, improving and planning of tools for the implementation of policies and legislation. While the Head of the Parliamentary Group for European Integration, Mr. Lutfi Haziri (co-chairman of TFEI), with regard to the importance of deriving the diagnosis and strategy for European Integration stated that “the country needs a strategy and a plan, as well as a good separation of roles between all stakeholders”. In this context Mr. Haziri referred to the role of the Assembly and Committee, which he chairs by adding that “from 28 April 2011 we have adopted the resolution for common commitment of Kosovo for the process of European Integration. This is the first political consensus between the Position and Opposition, which means a joint commitment with only one agenda for our country”.

In this meeting, representatives of the EU Office in Kosovo, and Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany referred to the recent developments regarding the European agenda in which Kosovo is currently on.  TFEI meeting continued with discussions by the representatives of institutions, the civil society that offered recommendations regarding the maintenance and flow of the work of the Thematic Table, with an emphasis on providing suggestions regarding the following steps in the compilation of diagnosis and strategy, as well as in strengthening of this consultative process.

General Information:

The Task Force for European Integration is a national mechanism of consensus development that aims to gather various experts from all over governmental and non-governmental structures of the country in order to discuss and analyze the overall current situation and the challenges which should be addressed within the process of European Integration.  Task Force aims to enhance efforts and commitment through participation and contribution of all stakeholders in government, academia, public, civil society, media and others with an interest in the process of European Integration.

This will be done through the organization of work in 7 Thematic Tables. Based on the emerging challenges from Thematic Tables, the Task Force will come up with concrete recommendations for strategic policies on the process of European integration.
