Minister of European Integration, Mr. Blerim Reka received today the Head of the Unit for Kosovo and North Macedonia in the European Commission, Mr. David Cullen, with whom he discussed the European integration process and the steps the Republic of Kosovo should take in this process.
The European Commission’s new Enlargement Methodology and its impact on EU enlargement in the Western Balkans was also discussed. Further, the the need to intensify actions as regards the implementation of the Stabilization and Association Agreement and European Reform Agenda, including as regards the fight against corruption and organised crime. The importance of maximising the potential of IPA assistance was also raised.
The importance of maintaining regular communication between the Kosovo-EU parties was emphasized, as well as the coordination of all activities through this Ministry with other government institutions.
Minister Reka emphasized that: “Kurti Government has set the priorities that contribute to the European integration process and the reforms foreseen by the European Reform Agenda. Kosovo is aware of its responsibilities while the support of the EU institutions and the Member States is most welcome for moveing forward together in this process. “;
Mr Cullen stressed that reforms are the right way forward and requires strong political commitment. Mr. Cullen also expressed the European Commission’s readiness to support Kosovo on its path towards European integration.
