Minister Hoxha: Out integration path is irreversible

Prishtina, 18 February 2018 – The Minister of European Integration, Dhurata Hoxha, attended the meeting of the PanEuropian Union, as a key note speaker, whereby she emphasized that the European integration process remains among fundamental goals and obligations of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo.

The continuation of democratic consolidation, improvement of rule of law, respecting rights and establishment of a functional market economy are the current priorities, emphasized Minister Hoxha.

“These 10 years have been challenging for Kosovo. Upon this anniversary, we recall our path and the fight of our country and people to join the European values and principles. During the last 10 years, we have been through economic, political and social transition, but during this journey there was one thing that united us as a country, and that was the European perspective”, stated Minister Hoxha.

Kosovo, as Minister Hoxha emphasized, has made extraordinary progress since the declaration of independence, whereby democratic institution were established, progress was marked in rule of law and there are positive developments in terms of economic growth.

Moreover, the minister spoke on the importance of the SAA, as its implementation requires the harmonization of legislation with EU standards and full implementation of legislation in practice.

“This will require political willingness, administrative capacities and sustainable funding, which is challenging. However, we believe that this challenge will be overcome with strong political will and commitment. Kosovo and EU institutions should work together in overcoming challenges and using the opportunities of the integration process” stated Minister Hoxha.

Whereas, with regard to the enlargement Strategy, the Minister emphasized that the European Commission has confirmed its commitment in supporting Western Balkan countries in the process of aligning with EU standards, values and principles, by fulfilling the aforementioned criteria and conditions.
