Minister Hoxha met Ambassador Sardi for the visa liberalization issue

Prishtina, 8 May 2018 – In the framework of meetings focused on the visa liberalization issue, the Minister of European Integration, Dhurata Hoxha, met today the Ambassador of the Republic of Italy to Kosovo, Piero Cristoforo SARDI.

Minister Hoxha emphasized the achievements and challenges of the process, highlighting the fight against the organized crime and corruption, as well as commitment for implementation of recommendations deriving from the Kosovo 2018 Report.

“We are maximally engaged to fulfil the criterion of visa liberalization. We did it and we soon expect positive signals for our achievements. However, this is not the end of our engagement. Visa liberalization will facilitate further integration process by improving specific components, such as economic development, increase of competitive ability, education and other aspects with priority”, stated Minister Hoxha, adding that Italy was by the side of Kosovo and thus expects further support in Brussels, and in other instances as well.

Ambassador Sardi expressed satisfaction for the dynamism of the process being taken by central and local institutions, as well as reconfirmed the support not only for visa liberalization, but also for the implementation of SAA, European Reform Agenda and economic reforms.

All these, as Ambassador Sardi stated, will have an impact on the integration process, providing cooperation in this regard.

The interlocutors agreed that Kosovo deserves visa liberalization, progress has been achieved; however, the engagement to the process should continue.
