Minister Hoxha meets Austrian Minister Blümel- seeking to conclude decision-making on visa liberalization during the Austrian presidency

Prishtina, 27 September 2018 – Minister of European Integration, Dhurata Hoxha, received the Austrian Federal Minister for European Union Affairs, Mr. Gernot Blümel with associates, who simultaneously represents the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Minister Hoxha thanked and expressed her gratitude to Minister Blümel for the Austrian support to Kosovo at all phases of statehood and state-building, focusing on the support for visa liberalization as well as strengthening of bilateral relations.

“We greatly appreciate Austria’s contribution and support, particularly regarding visa liberalization. We have already launched the awareness campaign for this important process for Kosovo and its citizens, said “Minister Hoxha at the meeting, adding that this is a joint success with friend countries such as Austria, which was constantly on the side of Kosovo’s citizens. The minister stressed that Kosovo needs further support from Austria, especially at this stage, accelerating decision-making on visa liberalization in order for this process to be completed during the Austrian presidency.

Austrian Federal Minister for European Union Blümel praised Kosovo’s commitment to meeting the benchmarks arising from the roadmap as well as the SAA measures. He offered Austria’s support in the processes that Kosovo is going through.

At the meeting with Minister Blümel, the Minister also noted the commitment to implement the Stabilization and Association Agreement as well as the European Reform Agenda, ERA 2, which foresees the continued implementation of reforms with particular attention to public administration reform.
