Skopje, 11 November 2017 – Minister of European Integration, Dhurata Hoxha, attended the annual Regional Conference in Skopje on the topic “Capacity building and regional co-operation for the European integration process in the Western Balkans”, whereby she emphasized that the European integration process remains one of the main goals of foreign policy of the Republic of Kosovo.
Minister Hoxha emphasized that the continuation of democratic consolidation, improvement of the rule of law, respect for human rights and the creation of a functioning market economy are the primary tasks of Kosovo institutions.
“The duties of addressing the basic criteria for EU membership are fulfilled faster with the contribution provided for Kosovo, by these countries participating in this conference, as Kosovo considers the values of these bodies as its own values”, said Minister Hoxha, further adding that the funds for this purpose are considerable.
We need to continue creating joint projects between the countries of the region and to continue exchanging experiences, said the Minister, while also opening up the opportunities for Kosovo experts to engage in projects of other countries in order to have a complementarity of experience and a better synergy between different countries with the same aspirations.
Minister Hoxha reemphasized the fact that Kosovo is the first country in the Western Balkans to have developed an institutionalized framework for direct involvement of civil society in the EU integration process at the stage of implementation of the Stabilization and Association Agreement. This mechanism has been drafted in cooperation with our counterparts from Croatia with direct experience in the EU membership negotiations at the highest political level.
At the end of her speech, Minister Hoxha reiterated that regional cooperation is crucial in the EU integration process.
“Kosovo is still at the early stages of SAA implementation and we are open to any assistance from neighbouring countries in the exchange of experiences, as the most efficient way to benefit from the experience of other countries in this complex process”, stated the Minister of European Integration, Dhurata Hoxha.
