Minister Hoxha in Meeting with Austrian FMI State Secretary Edtstadler: Reforms are Strengthening Rule of Law

Vienna, 14 May 2018 – The Minister of European Integration, Dhurata Hoxha, during her visit to Vienna met with the State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Karoline Edtstadler, to discuss on the issues of rule of law, fight against corruption, safety, and neighbourly cooperation in the framework of the integration process.

Hoxha assured Edstadler that the reforms undertaken in Kosovo serve the European Reform Agenda, focusing on strengthening the rule of law and economic reforms.

“The fight against corruption and organized crime is a priority of our state activities; we have achieved success in this respect and therefore we expect a positive visa liberalization assessment. Combating corruption does not end there; we will make it a part of the daily work of central and local institutions, because a country cannot move forward without fighting firmly this ugly and harmful phenomenon for every state,” said Hoxha.

In addition to the visa liberalization process, Hoxha also requested Austria’s support for the Kosovo’s membership in Interpol.

On her side, Edstadler noted that her country is following closely the actions of the Republic of Kosovo in this domain, adding that it is important to combat this issue in continuity at all institutional levels, especially when safety and security are at stake.

Further, Edstadler talked about regional cooperation and good neighbourliness, stressing that Kosovo is on the right path in these processes and that it has her country’s support in this direction.
