Vienna, 14 May 2018 – The Minister of European Integration, Dhurata Hoxha, met today in Vienna with Mr. Michael Linhart, Secretary General of the Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs of Austria, with whom she discussed about the achievements and challenges of the integration process.
Minister Hoxha asked for support for the integration process, as in July Austria takes over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union and can therefore do more for Kosovo in general and the visa liberalization process in particular.
According to Hoxha, Austria has strongly supported Kosovo in its process so far. She expressed her hope for and welcomed the continued Austrian support for Kosovo’s EU integration process.
“We expect your further support for the EU integration process of Kosovo and Western Balkan. Kosovo is now treated on an equal footing with other Balkans countries. Kosovo expects this treatment to become even more concrete in the form of free movement, which should be granted to our citizens soon,” said Hoxha, stressing that visa liberalization is a pressing priority, while integration is the country’s ultimate goal.
On the other hand, Mr. Linhart underlined that Kosovo as a Western Balkans country is part of the integration processes and enlargement plans of the European Union, demanding that Kosovo advance in terms of European Reform Agenda processes, economic reforms and strengthening of the rule of law.
