Prishtina, 11 December 2017 – At the first meeting of the National Council for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the Minister of European Integration, Dhurata Hoxha, stressed in her speech the importance of this Council for the governance policy and the integration process.
“The Ministry of European Integration coordinates external assistance to Kosovo, and in particular, the main focus is on EU funds provided under the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA). Within the IPA, the innovation and entrepreneurship was so far supported through the individual projects which are part of the ‘Competitiveness and Innovation’ sector”, said Minister Dhurata Hoxha.
The Minister of European Integration, Dhurata Hoxha, stated that “Together with line ministries, we are working to update the Sector Planning Document for Competitiveness and Innovation in order to provide greater support for the 2019 and 2020 programming years”. The Minister also stated “We expect that, by January next year, we will be fully done with compiling the document, while the responsible ministries are required to make their concrete proposals for activities to be funded by IPA, as requested by the staff of the Ministry of European Integration”.
“In a joint meeting with Commissioner Hahn, an idea has emerged to set up an instrument for new start-ups. So far, we have exchanged official letters for this purpose and by the end of this year, the EU Office will come up with a study of the current situation, which will serve as a basis for designing the projects that will be part of IPA 2019 programming. These data will be merged into the Sector Planning Document for Competitiveness and Innovation”, emphasized Minister Hoxha, adding that this project will be in the service of our youth and entrepreneurship development.
“The Ministry of European Integration will be ready to support and coordinate the efforts of our institutions regarding the absorption of external funds for the promotion of innovation and entrepreneurship in Kosovo, and I invite you for cooperation among us in this direction”, said Minister Hoxha.
