Minister Hoxha thanks donors – Kosovo received EUR 164 million in 2016
Prishtina, 11 December 2017- Today, in the framework of the Ministry of European Integration, was held the meeting of the High Level Forum on Donor Coordination, where the main findings of the Donor Report for 2016 and Government’s priorities were presented.
Present at the meeting were the Head of the EU Office in Kosovo, Ms. Apostolova and the US Ambassador, Mr. Delawie who delivered a speech, as well as donors and ministers of the Cabinet.
At the opening of the meeting, Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj said that Kosovo has made tremendous progress in recent years in every sphere of the society. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of donations from taxpayers of friendly countries that helped Kosovo in the most difficult time. On this occasion, he emphasized that by receiving help, we have also received obligations and expressed the determination and dedication to increase accountability coefficient in donor management and combating corruption, thus becoming a responsible member of the European family.
Minister of European Integration, Dhurata Hoxha presented the Annual Report on Donor Coordination for 2016, informing the participants and the opinion that donations of EUR 164 million were allocated in the form of assistance, focusing on governance, civil society, education, improvement of water management and sewage management, investment in infrastructure improvement and business support. The biggest donors are the European Union, the United States of America, Switzerland, Germany and other countries”, said Minister Hoxha.
Subsequently, the Minister summed up the amounts devoted to the areas as follows: Government and Civil Society with over 57 million, Education with 17.6 million, Improvement of water and sewage management with 14 million, Investments in infrastructure improvement with 10 million, Business support with 9.5 million. Finally, the Minister thanked the donors noting that these projects affect the quality of the areas where the investments were made.
During the meeting, the respective ministers presented the priorities in the area of Rule of Law, Education, Health and Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
