Prishtina, 02 September 2016 – The Minister of European Integration, Mr. Bekim Çollaku, received in an introductory meeting the new Head of European Union Office, and EU Special Representative in Prishtina/Pristina, Ms. Nataliya Apostolova, and welcomed her to Kosovo.
Minister Çollaku expressed the commitment of the institutions to continue cooperation with the EU Office in terms of advancing Kosovo’s European agenda.
During the meeting, Minister Çollaku informed Ms. Apostolova regarding the engagement to implement the SAA, whereby the first results have started to take shape, and added that the latter is a reform agenda which is expected to take a faster dynamics in the coming months.
Whereas with regard to the Visa Liberalisation process, despite recent developments in the Assembly of Kosovo, namely the withdrawal from the agenda of the Draft-law on Ratification of the Agreement for Marking the Border Line between Kosovo and Montenegro, Minister Çollaku stated that EU should move forward with decision-making procedures, and give a positive decision for Kosovo.
“Kosovo has made more reforms, and fulfilled more criteria than any other Western Balkan country that has benefited from the visa liberalisation process. Therefore we expect a positive assessment in this regard, and would like to assure EU institutions that Kosovo will continue the reform agenda by observing and implementing the obligations emerging from the visa liberalisation process, and European integration process in general”, stated Minister Çollaku.
The new Head of the EU Office in Kosovo, and also EU’s Special Representative, Ms. Nataliya Apostolova thanked Minister Çollaku for the warm welcome to Kosovo. “I am pleased that Kosovo is fully committed to its European path, and in the future expect to cooperate in terms of advancing it, particularly in the implementation of the SAA and communication of the EU agenda to Kosovo’s citizens” stated Apostolova.
