Minister Çollaku hosted Ambassador Daviet

December 23, 2015

Prishtina, 22 December 2014 – Minister for European Integration of the Republic of Kosovo, Bekim Çollaku, had a meeting today with the Ambassador of France in Kosovo, Mrs. Maryse DAVIET.

In the meeting, Minister Çollaku thanked the Ambassador DAVIET for the continuous assistance that France provides to Kosovo in all spheres, in the state building field as well as in meeting the criteria for integration into the European Union (EU).

“The process of Kosovo’s integration into the European Union is on the safe path and the dynamics of the work for meeting the required criteria is increased in order to achieve this goal. Kosovo institutions and our citizens are fully committed on contributing to the European integration process, convinced that the membership in the European family is fully in line with our national interest for a state and a society that shares and promotes values of Western civilization, “said amongst others Minister Çolak.

The Ambassador Daviet congratulated the Minister Çollaku on assuming new responsibilities and promised that the French Government, through the Embassy in Kosovo, will continue to support Kosovo on its path towards EU membership.

Special importance in this meeting was devoted to the problem of illegal migration of Kosovo citizens to the Member States of the EU. The common conclusion was that “the growing trend of illegal migration should be stopped; otherwise it could jeopardize the very important process of visa liberalization. Addressing this problem, Minister Çollaku stressed out that Kosovo Government is taking concrete actions to stop the trend of illegal migration. To be more effective in stopping this negative trend, Minister Çollaku and the Ambassador Daviet agreed that it is necessary to establish a Task Force at the highest level of government which, in cooperation with relevant institutions including civil society and the media, would take coordinated actions to halt the growing trend of illegal migration”
