During the meeting, process of European Integration of Kosovo, the development of the negotiations on the Stabilisation and Association Agreement, and Finland’s continuous support for Kosovo, were discussed.
Whereas, twinning project for IPA funds, since this project is led by Finland and Ms. Marikki Jervinen, was discussed in more details.
On this occasion, Minister Çitaku thanked the Ambassador Meskanen for the continuous support that Finland has given to Kosovo in terms of the European integration process, as well as the support of various projects such as this Twinning project in Kosovo. Minister Çitaku assured the Ambassador Meskanen for the Government’s commitment in fulfilling all necessary reforms to advance even further in the excellent cooperation that Kosovo has with Finland. Ambassador Meskanen, praised the excellent relations between our two countries and expressed the willingness to their further development at all levels and areas with special focus to share with Kosovo, advices on the advancement with the European agenda, as well as the promotion of economic and social cooperation.
Currently, Finland has six twinning projects in Kosovo. These projects deal with training of security sector, IPA funds management, the development of the education sector, border security, and statistical services. The seventh project that deals with the rights of sexual and gender minorities will begin in the early of next year. Finland has an ongoing TAIEX-project and other technical assistance projects that are funded by the European Commission.
