Peja, June 22, 2015 – Today, the Ministry of European Integration held an informative conference, in Peja, as part of the awareness campaign on Stabilisation and Association Agreement in order to familiarize citizens and municipal officials with this Agreement.
On this occasion, Deputy Minister of European Integration Mr. Ramadan Ilazi emphasized that the historical agreement between the Republic of Kosovo and European Union, SAA, is a contract for the future of our country that opens up new opportunities for economic development aiming the Kosovo’s membership in the EU.
Deputy Minister Ilazi underlined that with the entry into force of SAA, Kosovo began the official journey towards EU integration and now the Republic of Kosovo is part of the formal accession process, same as all other regional countries.
“The SAA implementation process will require cooperation and coordination of all stakeholders including municipalities, civil society and business community. Since European agenda represents a social and political consensus, this cooperation is not only an option, but an obligation for all of us.
The progress of the Republic of Kosovo on its European path will be achieved only with the proper implementation of SAA and this should be our focus.. Kosovo municipalities are crucial in the process of implementing European reforms and, in this regard, we expect a good cooperation”, stated Deputy Minister.
The ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands to Kosovo, Ms. Gerrie Willems and Deputy Minister of Local Government Administration, Mr. Bajram Gecaj were part of the panel in this conference.
This was the second informative conference regarding SAA, following the one with municipalities of the Region of Prishtina organized by the Ministry of European Integration in cooperation with the Ministry of Local Government Administration supported by GIZ.
