Ireland supports Kosovo’s membership in EU

Prishtina, 10 February 2016 – Deputy Minister of European Integration, Mr. Ramadan Ilazi, hosted today in a meeting the Ambassador of Ireland in Hungary, non-resident for Kosovo, Mr. Pat Kelly.

Deputy Minister Ilazi thanked Ambassador Kelly for the continuous support that his country provided to Kosovo in many areas, especially on European integration path.

During the meeting, Deputy Minister Ilazi has informed Mr. Kelly about the developments regarding European agenda of Kosovo, especially about visa liberalization process which reached the decisive moments.

“Now we are waiting the announced visit of EU Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship, Dimitris Avramopoulos in Kosovo, in order to move forward regarding this process with the recommendation for visa liberalization for citizens of the Republic of Kosovo” stated Deputy Minister Ilazi.

Also Deputy Minister of European Integration informed the Irish ambassador about the preparations being made from Kosovo institutions in implementing the Stabilisation and Association Agreement, an agreement which was signed between Kosovo and EU.

On the other hand, Ambassador of Ireland in Hungary, non-resident for Kosovo, Mr. Pat Kelly, expressed the readiness of the Government of Ireland to assist Kosovo on its path towards European integration, especially regarding the visa liberalization process.
