Inaugural meeting of the Coordination Group for Kosovo’s Membership into the Open Government Partnership (OGP), was held

The Republic of Kosovo has officially commenced the OGP membership process in July of this year, where the Government of Kosovo, in the meeting held on 9th of July 2013, has adopted the decision for commencing the procedures for Kosovo`s membership into the  Open Government Partnership (OGP), on which occasion, Government of Kosovo has authorized the Ministry of European Integration to establish the Coordinating Group and to coordinate procedures with the membership process, which will be chaired by MEI and co-chaired by the Movement FOL.

This coordination group, composed by Public Institution, Civil Society Organizations and representatives of the business sector, has the responsibility for the general coordination of the membership process as well as the preparation of the documents and mechanisms for Kosovo`s membership into the OGP.

The topic of the meeting was the exchange of updated information, in order to discuss on Kosovo`s membership into Open Government Membership (OGP). In addition, a topic of this meeting was also the increase of cooperation between the Government of Kosovo, Civil Society and the Business Sector, for a more open, cooperative, partner and transparent government.

On this occasion, Minister Çitaku, stated: “On behalf of the Government of Kosovo, we guarantee full support, comprehensive leadership, and complete transparency for each step that will be undertaken during this process, complete independence and certainty that the decisive authority on the preparation and adoption of the National Plan will be you, honored members of the Coordinating Group. Furthermore, we guarantee that all obligations, during and after the membership process of the Republic of Kosovo into the OGP, will be taken by the Government of Kosovo. I would like, since today, to require your assistance during this process, which would be extremely necessary in the process of the implementation of this plan, where monitoring and assistance, provided by you, to the public institution will be decisive for the success on developing an open and accountable government. Comprehensiveness and transparency are essential part for consensus building in the process of Kosovo`s membership in the OGP.
