Czech Deputy Minister Petříček ascertains Minister Hoxha that Czech Republic will provide support to Kosovo

Prague, 19 September 2018 – During the official visit to the Czech Republic, Minister of European Integration Dhurata Hoxha was hosted by Tomáš Petříček – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Czech Republic, who was recently nominated for Minister of Foreign Affairs from his party. In this meeting, Minister Hoxha has requested support from the Czech Republic regarding visa liberalization.

Minister Hoxha emphasized that the reforms required with European Agenda, Stabilization and Association Agreement and other economic reforms are intensive work of Kosovo institutions.

We have paid special attention to preventing illegal immigration, trafficking in human beings, asylum law, and repatriation agreements which are implemented with all EU countries, said Minister Hoxha, adding that with all these activities we testify that Kosovo institutions are capable and ready to implement international agreements and fight organized crime.

The Czech Republic, in its new history, has proven to be a supporter of positive developments in Kosovo and the region, said Minister Hoxha, pointing out that she also expects support in the final step, the supportive decision for liberalization in the meeting of the Council of Ministers for lifting the restriction of freedom of movement for the citizens of Kosovo.

Mr. Petříček – Deputy Minister at the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised the engagement of Minister Hoxha and vowed to provide support for Kosovo and its integration process. Mr Petříček stressed that the expansion of the Western Balkans and in particular Kosovo’s European integration is a priority for the Czech Republic and Kosovo will have the support of the Czech Republic in the important processes for the country.

Minister Hoxha also pointed out that the European perspective for the citizens of Kosovo should be confirmed as soon as possible through visa liberalization as the only fair decision, following the positive recommendation from the European Commission which has confirmed that Kosovo has met all the criteria.
