Prishtina, 14 August 2019 – The Minister in charge of European Integration, Dhurata Hoxha, hosted in a meeting the outgoing ambassador of the United Kingdom, Ruairí O’Connell, with whom she discussed the cooperation so far, which was highly appreciated and assessed as useful by the Minister.
Minister Hoxha thanked Ambassador O’Connell for his support in the fight against crime, corruption, nepotism, noting that the friendship and support of the United Kingdom is of value to Kosovo’s citizens and statehood.
“;The contribution of the United Kingdom and its diplomacy occupy an extraordinary place in the recent history of our country, so the values of this friendship are only growing. The continuous support coming from this great country is of particular importance to Kosovo and its citizens, so your work, Mr. Ambassador, we will be highly valued and highly appreciated”, emphasized Minister Hoxha, adding that the United Kingdom has had a powerful position in overcoming the challenges of building our institutions.
The Ambassador of the United Kingdom, Ruairí O’Connell, assessed that Kosovo is at a crossroads and steps should be taken to move forward. Fighting corruption and nepotism remains important, as well as fostering a culture of transparent recruitment processes within the civil service.
