Prishtina, 04 May 2020 – The Acting Minister of European Integration, Mr. Blerim Reka, had a telephone conversation with the Austrian Federal Minister for EU and the Constitution, Mrs. Karoline Edtstadler. In this conversation with the Minister of Austria, initially, the information on the state of COVID-19 pandemic in both countries was exchanged, where the improvement of the situation in these two countries was ascertained. At the same time, they discussed about the Kosovo integration process in the European Union, especially about the visa liberalization for Kosovo.

Thanking Austria for the traditional support of Kosovo’s European path, Minister Reka asked Minister Edtstadler, as a friendly state of Kosovo, to persuade the few hesitant states to abolish visas for Kosovo citizens, as on the eve of EU Summit in Zagreb with the Western Balkan countries, as well as during the regular European Council summit in June 2020.

On her side, Minister Edtstadler re-confirmed the Austrian support for Kosovo in the integration process and in particular for visa liberalization, because as she said, the progress in the field of rule of law, the fight against corruption and the fight against organized crime, is clearly seen.
