A positive report is expected from the assessment mission within Visa Liberalization process

Prishtina, 20 February 2014 – Minister of European Integration, Vlora Çitaku hosted in a meeting the Euro-deputy Tanja Fajon to discuss about the progress in Kosovo, Visa Liberalization and advancement of  European integration processes.

Minister Çitaku and Mrs. Fayon discussed in details about the finalization of the Visa Liberalization process for Kosovo in order to conclude this chapter as soon as possible and to commence with the implementation of free movements for the citizens of Kosovo. Also it was discussed about Stabilisation and Association Agreement, but also regarding Kosovo’s international subjectivity by taking as a basis the proactive approach and Kosovo`s contribution regarding the improvement of neighbour relations and regional progress.

By highly appreciating the contribution and determination of Mrs. Fayon to contribute in advancing Kosovo in relation to European integration, Minister Çitaku stated: “The institutions of the Republic of Kosovo are doing their utmost to fulfil the recommendations and obligations deriving from the Roadmap of Visa Liberalisation for Kosovo”.

Minister Çitaku also expressed the willingness of the Government of Kosovo for comprehensive strengthening bilateral cooperation with all the member states of European Union. But also emphasized the importance of cooperating with European Parliament.

Whereas Euro-deputy Fajon emphasized that, along with her colleagues from European Parliament, she will do everything that is possible to help Kosovo on its path towards integration in European Union. In addition, Mrs. Fayon emphasized the importance that the focus of the engagement of the institutions of the country should be in implementing the standards set out for this process.
