President Jahjaga, thanked Minister Çitaku for her commitment dedicated to the organization of many thematic roundtables for integration processes of the Republic of Kosovo in European family.On her part, Minister Çitaku was very pleased with the commitment given by all parties involved. The commitment of this entire spectrum, inclusion of all stakeholders and the cooperation that is offered by everyone without any difference proves that when it comes to the European integration agenda, not only institutions but our entire society has a unique attitude and approach. This result comes with the compliance and cooperation that has prevailed throughout this process among institutional officials, representatives of civil society, political parties, academia and the business community with commitment to thematic roundtables and finalizing of a comprehensive strategy. Minister Çitaku stated: “What makes this strategy unique, are the participants and their contribution to this process. Unlike other strategies, this strategy is a local result which reflects the challenges and highlights the needs as we see them. This strategy also defines the challenges, criteria, objectives and responsibilities that we have evidenced together, according to the priorities identified in the areas and sub-areas where we need to focus in the upcoming years to ensure an acceleration of the European agenda”. Minister Çitaku continued: “It is important to note that this strategy is the strategy that should serve as a framework for other sector strategies, and as such it identifies key issues related to all sectors. Also, this strategy foresees further development of governance, improvement of the drafting and implementation of policies, combating corruption and organized crime, economic development, inter-social cooperation and regional and inter-national cooperation.”

In March of the previous year, the National Council for European Integration at the inaugural meeting supported the initiative for the creation of the Task Force with the purpose of drafting the National Strategy for European Integration, as well as to develop a comprehensive and sustainable consensus among all institutions and stakeholders of Kosovo. In this regard, in May of the previous year were organized the first meetings of the Task Force for European Integration. While, in July, began the meetings of Thematic Tables which were led by the civil society but also by institutional representatives. Within Thematic Table meetings participated more than 1000 participants. Among them, representatives of civil society, state institutions, representatives of political parties, representatives of academia and the business community. Also, were engaged a large number of local experts who presented discusing materials. Such materials showed the situation in specific fields in the integration process. They were discussed and updated from the participants in the Thematic Table meetings, then to be finalized with the support of the secretariat. All of this was achieved in more than 50 meetings and workshops. The result of this engagement are dozens of disucion materials, Thematic Table Reports, Diagnostic Report and the Final Strategy
