The Government approved two proposals of Deputy Minister Çelaj

Prishtina, 23 May 2019 – Deputy Minister of European Integration, Lirak Çelaj, in the meeting of the Government of Kosovo chaired by the Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, provided reasons for Draft Regulation on Internal Organization and Systematization of Jobs in this Ministry and the initiative for Trilateral Financial Agreement between European Union, Kosovo and Albania.

The Government Cabinet approved two proposals of Deputy Minister Çelaj.

The scope of the Ministry of European Integration covers a wide range of fields of coordination, monitoring and reporting, with focus on the process of European Integration of the Republic of Kosovo, pointed out Mr. Çelaj.

“This Draft Regulation creates a more consolidated basis of managing duties and responsibilities within the Ministry of European Integration towards line institutions in the European Integration process,” stated Mr. Lirak Çelaj and added that the Ministry of Public Administration and Ministry of Finance provided their consents for this Regulation.

Deputy Minister Lirak Çelaj also tabled the issue of approving in principle the initiative for concluding the Trilateral Financial Agreement between the European Union, Kosovo and Albania for 2018. The Agreement is related to the implementation of the Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Albania – Kosovo funded within the Instrument for Pre-Accession (IPA).

Cross-Border Cooperation Programme, by employing EU funds, as Mr. Çela pointed out, aims at increasing the regional cooperation and promoting the development of border areas between Kosovo and Albania.

Priorities of this programme between two countries are: environmental protection, adaption to climate changes, risk prevention and management, tourism and cultural and natural heritage, as well as youth and education, with focus on employment generation.

Following the approval of this initiative, we will continue consultations with the European Commission, in compliance with the internal government procedures and the agreement will be signed on time.
