Prishtina, 12 March 2020 – The Minister of European Integration, Mr. Blerim Reka, today hosted the Head of Office of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Kosovo, Mr. Neil Taylor, in a meeting where they discussed the Bank’s assistance and support regarding energy, infrastructure and environmental projects.
As mentioned by the Head of Office of EBRD in Kosovo, EBRD continues to implement projects which from 2012 and until the next months of this year will amount to a total of approximately half a billion euros of investment by this bank. He stressed that the priority areas that EBRD continues to support and that keeps in its focus with regard to financial support will be those in alternative wind energy and in the energy sector as a whole, in the infrastructure sector, as well as in the private sector.
On this occasion, it was emphasized that EBRD is interested in balancing investments between the energy and the environment sector, with the aim of ensuring a cleaner environment in Kosovo, in view of Kosovo’s practical contribution to meeting the European Green Agenda objectives in the country. At the same time, EBRD offered support with regard to the finalization of the construction of a part of the Kosovo highway with the 10 pan-European Merdare-Nish corridor constructed for the purpose of becoming part of the trans-European corridors.
