Prishtina, 13 February 2020 – The Minister of European Integration, Mr. Blerim Reka, hosted in a meeting Norway’s Special Representative for the Western Balkans, Arne Sannes Bjornstad, accompanied by the Norwegian Ambassador in Kosovo, Mr. Jens Erik Grondahl.
At this meeting it was discussed about the stability of the Balkans, Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Kosovo as part of the region, the security challenges of non-Euro-Atlantic actors, and the necessity to complete the inclusion of the entire Balkans within the Euro-Atlantic area.
Minister Reka informed Norway’s senior diplomatic official on Kosovo’s EU integration priorities, including visa liberalization, implementation of the Stabilization and Association Agreement obligations, as well as preparations for Kosovo’s application for the status of EU candidate. In this regard, Minister Reka requested the support of Norway in convincing the states who are sceptical to support these processes.
The Norway’s Special Representative for the Western Balkans, Arne Sannes Bjornstad, informed Minister Reka on Norway’s new cooperation to support the Croatian Presidency for Western Balkan countries with expertise, in preparing them faster in their path towards EU integration process.
Finally, the parties agreed to continue with the implementation of the Norwegian Project with the Ministry of European Integration, as well as in taking all necessary actions to implement it effectively.
