Prishtina, 6 March 2020 – The Minister of European Integration, Mr. Blerim Reka, attended the analytical session organized by the Parliamentary Committee on European Integration, to discuss the new Enlargement Methodology presented by the European Commission.
This discussion was focused on the following topics: Kosovo 2020 – What approach we should have and how to contribute to the European Integration process? What does new Enlargement Methodology contains? What is different from the current methodology? What are the implications for Kosovo and the Western Balkan countries?
On this occasion, Minister Reka gave a summary of his insights regarding the changes introduced in the new Enlargement Methodology presented by the European Commission, how it was achieved this required change, how it was completed and how all this process should be understood in relation to Kosovo. On this occasion, Minister Reka emphasized that all this process in relation to Kosovo should be understood not as a difficult obligation but as an encouragement to improve the situation in Kosovo, to improve the well-being of Kosovo’s citizens, to improve and restore the lost trust of citizens in the Rule of Law. This will also be reflected in the institutions of the European Union that Kosovo’s membership is an added value for the EU, not to be regarded as a burden to the European family.
During the discussion on the new Enlargement Methodology, many questions and insights were raised on what awaits Kosovo on its path to European Integration, and what are the steps that could be taken to further advance this process.
This activity, led by the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on European Integration, Mr. Armend Zemaj, was followed by a presentation of a journalist on the new Enlargement Methodology, Ms. Gjeraqina Tuhina, in the capacity of the expert hired by the German Development Cooperation (GIZ), namely the implemented project; “Support to the European Integration Process in Kosovo”.
