Minister Hoxha: Young people will be supported with digital economy programs

Prishtina, 18 March 2019 – The Minister of European Integration, Ms. Dhurata Hoxha, met with young people, civil servants of six countries of the region, who were part of the pilot project within the Berlin Process, and the EU Connectivity Agenda for the Western Balkans, and emphasized the assistance from IPA 2017 and IPA 2018, for the digital economy, through grant schemes for start-ups, focusing on information and communication technology.

The Minister also emphasized that during the reviewing of the Single Project Pipeline, the digital economy sector will be added, and this will enable Kosovo to apply in the Western Balkans Investment Framework with projects in this field.

“In the context of the Berlin process and within the European Union Connectivity Agenda for the Western Balkans, in 2016 the European Commission launched a pilot project for the Regional Exchange Program for youth, civil servants from the Western Balkans, EU’s Young Professionals Scheme in the Western Balkans (YPS).

I discussed with the young people about my engagement as the National IPA Coordinator. In the framework of IPA 2017 and IPA 2018, we have supported the digital economy through grant schemes for start-ups, focusing on information and communication technology.

The Single Project Pipeline will be reviewed, and digital economy sector will be added. This will enable Kosovo to apply in the Western Balkans Investment Framework with projects in this field, which combine grants and loans from international financial institutions in this field.”
