Minister Hoxha receives the Estonian Foreign Ministry’s support for visa liberalization

November 16, 2018

Talin, 16 November 2018 – Minister of European Integration, Dhurata Hoxha, was hosted in a meeting by Matti Maasikas, Deputy Minister of European Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as they discussed the deepening of the cooperation and the current issue of visa liberalization for the citizens of Kosovo.

Kosovo has fulfilled all the visa liberalization criteria foreseen in the roadmap we received in 2012, and since then, we have worked hard to fulfil all the criteria, said Minister Hoxha, adding that she now expects support in this process.

Minister Hoxha highly praised Estonia, as a country that has continuously supported Kosovo in its integration path, and said she expects such support to continue, especially now at the Council of Ministers meeting where it will be decided on visa liberalization.

“For our country, after receiving the confirmation from the European Commission that we have met all the criteria, visa liberalization is a priority and a necessity. In this regard, I ask Estonia’s support and their vote in the Council of Ministers so our citizens can move freely and finally be equal with the citizens of other neighbouring countries”, said Minister Hoxha.

Deputy Minister Matti Maasikas assured Minister Hoxha that Estonia will provide its support by voting in favour of the visa liberalization for Kosovo and stressed that Estonia has always been a supporter of important processes for Kosovo, especially when it comes to integration processes, and also congratulated Minister Hoxha on her work and commitment to advance towards Kosovo’s European integration.
