Prishtina, 3 December 2018 – Minister of European Integration, Ms. Dhurata Hoxha, today received the European Union Commissioner for Enlargement, Mr. Johannes Hahn, at the state border between the Republic of Kosovo and Serbia, and considered his visit as very important.
On this occasion, Minister Hoxha wrote the following on her social network:
“Today, I received the Commissioner of the European Union for Enlargement, Mr. Johannes Hahn, at the state border with Serbia, Merdare.
His visit to Kosovo is important as it relates to the existing climate in the relations between the Republic of Kosovo and its neighbours, with predetermined messages promoting good neighbourly relations and regional cooperation.
Certainly, good neighbourly relations and regional cooperation, for which we have given abundant proves, are not our sole focus, as we also focus in Kosovo’s integration in international organizations and visa liberalisation.
There can be no success in the integration processes if Kosovo’s citizens face restrictions and are the only people in Europe who remain “ghettoized”. We have fulfilled all of the 95 criteria envisaged under the Visa Liberalisation Roadmap, and therefore what we expect is to have free movement, as a necessary step of good faith and realization of efforts made in the integration process and joint integration values.
I will let Mr. Hahn know that while they required us to fulfil the 95 conditions under the Visa Liberalisation Roadmap, we now expect from you to approve the decision on the Liberalisation in the Council of Ministers!”
