Minister Hoxha in Strasbourg, individual meetings with MEPs: Kosovo will mark progress in integration process

Strasbourg, 25 October 2017 – Minister of European Integration, Dhurata Hoxha held individual meetings with MEP Lars Adaktusson, member of the Group of the European People’s Party in the European Parliament, MEP Hilde Vautmans, Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe, with MEP Marijana Petir, member of the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality, and MEP Igor Sholtes, member Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance in the European Parliament, same time rapporteur for Kosovo, who will replace Mrs. Ulrike Lunacek,, whereby presented Kosovo’s achievements and challenges in the integration process.

At all meetings, the Minister outlined Kosovo’s achievements in the integration process, particularly focusing on regional cooperation, human rights, rule of law and economic development.

“We accept European Union values as ours, therefore, in the framework of integration process, good neighbourliness, cooperation and communication in the region is of special importance,” stated Minister Hoxha and added that Kosovo is contributing to being part of integration agenda as a priority and national consensus.

MEPs stressed that acceleration of implementation of integration agenda, the Stabilization and Association Agreement, meeting requirements within this process, should be given priority. Minister Dhurata Hoxha highlighted the commitment of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo in terms of security by contributing to the fight against terrorism and radicalism.

The visit of Minister Hoxha was the first of its kind in the capacity of the Minister of European Integration, with the aim of strengthening the relations with the European Parliament, introducing this major institution with the work and commitment of our institutions in the European integration process, and the successes and challenges in this process.
