Minister Hoxha: EU provides support to projects for small and medium-sized enterprises

March 20, 2018

Prishtina 20 March 2018 – Minister of European Integration, Dhurata Hoxha, participated in a workshop dedicated to Kosovo’s participation in Europe’s programme for small and medium-sized enterprises – COSME.

COSME is an EU program, the first one that Kosovo signed after the entry into force of the Framework Agreement.

Minister Hoxha stated that Kosovo is the last among the countries of the region with regards to such a framework, and this is precisely due to political reasons.

“Kosovo did not have any contractual agreement of any kind until the signing of Stabilization and Association Agreement, which then opened the door for the signing of this framework agreement”, said Minister Hoxha.

This year, we will sign three more agreements (Europe for Citizens, Creative Europe and Erasmus+), and one of them will be signed in April. Apart from the funds invested in these programs, through the payment of the entry ticket, we need to work hard in order to benefit from these programs, said the Minister.

It is good that workshops like this one are organized, and we need the awareness of all stakeholders involved in this process, so the small and medium enterprises can benefit from these programs.

Agreements should not be only symbolic acts of our approximation with the EU, said the Minister, but should be a starting point for mutual benefit and real involvement of Kosovo’s stakeholders in the European agenda and in cooperation with EU.

There will be an assessment of the benefits from these programs, in order to have an overview whether it makes sense to continue, said the Minister.

“Without the EU help and support, we would not be here discussing our participation, and be able to contribute directly in sharing the financial burden through IPA.

At the same time, we are the ones who will be able to open the path for our country for the greatest benefits in the future”, said Minister Hoxha.

She added that she remains available to facilitate and assist the continuous communication with all EU institutions in Kosovo as well as in Brussels in order to ensure that our efforts in this program are successful.
