Prishtina, 12 December 2018 – Minister of European Integration, Dhurata Hoxha, hosted in a meeting the Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to the Republic of Kosovo, Gernot Pfandler, with whom she discussed on the integration processes, in particular on the issue of visa liberalization.
The Austrian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2018 resulted in extraordinary engagement for Kosovo to win liberalization, said Minister Hoxha, but, unfortunately, the recommendations and invitations of Austria for liberalization were not adhered to from member states of the Council of Ministers.
“We are grateful for Austria’s full commitment during its presidency at the helm of the EU Council, the visits of senior Austrian officials and awareness-raising agendas to the issue for EU member states as well as the continued demands to vote liberalization for Kosovo. I consider that this commitment was very welcome and we are grateful for it,” said Minister Hoxha in the meeting, pointing out that Austria has been, is and remains a loyal ally of Kosovo.
Whereas Ambassador Pfandler reiterated and appreciated the commitment of the Minister and the country’s institutions to meet all the criteria, emphasising that Austria has supported and continues to support the visa liberalization for Kosovo citizens. He also praised the commitment for the implementation of the European Reforms Agenda and the SAA.
Minister Hoxha and Ambassador Pfandler reiterated the readiness to move ahead with Kosovo’s integration agenda, support to all EU instances of Kosovo from Austria and Kosovo’s membership in regional and global institutions.
