Minister Çollaku talks about the importance of Public Administration Reform at the Special Group on reform

Prishtina, 2 June 2015 – Minister of European Integration, Mr. Bekim Çollaku took part today at the meeting of Special Group on Public Administration Reform, where he spoke about its importance and about the connection of reform with the European integration process.

As a member of the Ministerial Council on the reform, the Minister stated that under the new approach for enlargement of the European Commission, were defined three main pillars of the integration process and one of them is the public administration reform.  “Definition of public administration reform as one of the three main pillars represents a new approach of the European Union on public administration reform. A while from now we commenced with the technical dialogue on the public administration reform, but today for the first time we are conducting the political dialogue within the integration process”, stated the Minister.

In addition to promoting the political dialogue, the Minister explained that the EU has also foreseen special funds under the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance to support the results that derive from political and technical dialogue of the public administration reform.
“With the coordination by the Ministry of European Integration, the Office for Strategic Planning from the Office of the Prime Minister, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Public Administration are currently in a process of drafting the Sector Planning Document for the first round of financial assistance that will be provided within the public administration reform”, and continued that this will be the first time when the provided assistance will be available as a direct budget support.

In this meeting were also present the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Mr. Isa Mustafa and Mr. Jean-Eric Paquet, Director for the Western Balkans at the Directorate General of the European Neighbourhood Policy and Negotiations for Enlargement, European Commission.
