Helsinki, 15 June 2016 – Upon his official visit to Finland, Minister of European Integration, Mr. Bekim Çollaku, was hosted today in a meeting by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Mr. Timo Soini.
Minister Çollaku, extended his gratitude to Minister Soini, for Finland’s continuous support provided to Kosovo through financial assistance, development projects, support upon affiliation in international organizations as well as for contribution and presence of Finnish troops in KFOR and EULEX mission.
The meeting aimed at deepening of bilateral relations between the Republic of Kosovo and Finland, in addition, latest developments in Kosovo, regional cooperation and the progress in light of European Agenda, were also discussed.
Minister Çollaku informed Finnish Chief Diplomat on Kosovo’s progress towards European integration process, especially on the implementation of Stabilization and Association Agreement as well as on the completion of visa liberalization process.
On his part, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Mr.Timo Soini, extended his readiness in further supporting Kosovo in its journey towards EU integration and deepening of bilateral cooperation.
During his visit to Finland, Minister Çollaku also met with former special envoy of UN, former President Martti Ahtisaari on discussions about Kosovo’s final status. Minister Çollaku by highly appreciating the Ahtisaari`s contribution and his significant role in negotiations on Kosovo’s status, informed him with all developments in the country, same time highlighting that due to common vision and work of Kosovo and its international partners, Kosovo justly is considered as a success story in state building processes.
