Minister Çollaku hosted by the Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Linas Linkevicius

Vilnius, June 08, 2015 – The Minister of European Integration, Mr. Bekim Çollaku, met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Mr. Linas Linkevicius, whom reaffirmed Lithuania’s support in advancing Kosovo’s European Agenda.

Initially, Minister Çollaku thanked Minister Linkevicius for Lithuania’s continuous support to Kosovo, both at diplomatic and bilateral cooperation level, and through their presence within the KFOR and EULEX missions. Furthermore Minister Çollaku informed him about the progress made in the field of European integration, particularly in addressing two priorities for this year, such as visa liberalization and signing the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA).

Considering that Kosovo is close to signing the SAA, Minister Çollaku, expressed his gratitude to Minister Linkevicius for the consistent and supportive attitude, since it’s a notorious fact that SAA negotiations were started under Lithuania’s European Union Presidency. Minister Çollaku emphasized that: “Lithuania fully supports Kosovo’s European future and will continue giving full support to Kosovo in signing the SAA and to the successful conclusion of the visa liberalization process”.

Also, both interlocutors agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation between the two countries, particularly in field of economy and trade, student exchange, etc. “Kosovo and Lithuania have very good bilateral relationship, our people have many things in common and these visits contribute to further deepening bilateral relations between our two countries”, stated Minister Çollaku.

During his visit to Vilnius, Minister Çollaku, reminisced the Lithuanian member of the EULEX mission, Audrius Senavicius, who was killed in the line of duty in the northern part of the Republic of Kosovo, and once again conveyed the message of Kosovo’s institutions and of the people of Kosovo, and expressed that Kosovo felt the pain together with the family of the deceased and with the entire Lithuanian people, once more expressing his belief that the memory of the Custom’s officer Senavicius’ will always remain an inspiration to strengthening the rule of law in every part of the Republic of Kosovo.
