Minister Çollaku attended the inauguration of “Mendoj për ty” (Thinking of You) installation art

June 12, 2015

Prishtina, 12 June, 2015 – The Minister of European Integration Mr. Bekim Çollaku today participated in the inauguration ceremony of the “Mendoj për ty” (Thinking of You) installation art of author Alketa Xhafa Mripa and producer Anna Di Lellio in the Stadium of Prishtina, which aimed to portray the figure of Kosovo women that experienced violence during the war in Kosovo, but yet found the strength to survive and move forward.

According to Minister Çollaku, the thousand of dresses displayed at the stadium, donated by the citizens within the event organized by the National Council for the Survivors of Sexual Violence during the War, established and lead by the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Ms. Atifete Jahjaga, served to show once more that the surviving women are, and always will be supported by our society.

“Through such installation art we look back to our painful past and think of all the sacrifices we had to make, and the damage that was caused. Today, our mothers, sisters, wives, and friends are the ones that expressed their solidarity with one-another to once more show the strong unity and support, which proves that the victims and survivors of sexual violence during the war that managed to move forward, are a part of us, and all of us should engage to their dignified treatment by recognizing the pain and harm that was caused to each and every one of the victims in our country. All of us have the duty to fight the stigmatization of this part of our society, and we all should be proud of their strength to move forward”, stated Minister Çollaku.
