Minister Çitaku takes part in the International Conference “The role of the public diplomacy in the promotion of foreign policy agenda”

Minister Çitaku gave an overview regarding the importance of the role of public diplomacy for Kosovo. She said:

“In recent decades, public diplomacy has been seen as a kind of transparent mean through which a sovereign country communicates with public opinion of a foreign country in order to inform and influence foreign audience, thus promote national interest and advance foreign policy goals”.

Further on, Minister Çitaku continued her discussion by insisting on importance of interstate role and role that public diplomacy plays in improving the image of a country and adding that:

“Public diplomacy is seen as an integral part of the relations between countries. In this sense public diplomacy includes various activities such as e.g. educational exchange programs, various visits, linguistic trainings, cultural events, radio and television programs etc. Such activities aim to improve image and reputation of the “sending” country as a way of positive policy shaping of the “receiving” country’.

Finally, Miss Çitaku concluded that “A public diplomacy that is proactive, well coordinated, accurate, innovational, factual and informative is essential for advancement of the Kosovo’s foreign policies”.
