Minister Çitaku meet with the representative of the Network of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian Women Organizations of Kosovo

Prishtina, 21 October 2013 – Minister of European Integration, Mrs. Vlora Çitaku hosted in a meeting the representative of the Network of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian Women Organizations of Kosovo, from the NGO NRAEWOK, Mrs. Shpresa Agushi, with whom they discussed the current situation of women’s in Kosovo, with particular emphasis on the women from the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian community, and their best inclusion in the society.

Minister Çitaku thanked Mrs.  Agushi for the visit and promised her personal support for advocating on the integration of Roma, Ashkali and Egytian women in the society and creating opportunities for their advancement. Minister Çitaku also stated: “The woman is always the first shield which faces the problems and turbulences in the family or society, thus it is important to empower them.”

Whereas, Ms. Agushi stated: “Institutional support is extremely important for the communities in general, and especially for the women of the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian community, as they face triple discrimination, within the family, within their own community and within the society in which they live”.
