Minister Çitaku hosted in a meeting minister Buja and minister Jevtić

Prishtina, 29 April. 2014 – Minister of European Integration, Ms. Vlora Citaku, today held a joint meeting with Mr. Ramë Buja, Minister of Education, Science and Technology, and Mr. Dalibor Jevtić, Minister for Communities and Returns,  in order to discuss the possibilities of a more efficient use of EU funds, with the aim of more efficiently targeting the needs of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities.

In this context,  the agenda for the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities, which recently has been intensified within the European integration process, was discussed in details. Also, during various meetings and contacts with the representatives of the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities – we have been informed regarding various projects which are being implemented, particularly those of the EU which aims at targeting  the needs of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities. In this context, the EU, for a couple of years now, has 2 projects which it implements for the RAE communities. So, the “EU-Community Stabilisation Programme” and the “EU Support for the Implementation of the RAE Strategy – Education for integration (SIMRAES)”.

During the meeting Minister Citaku stated: “It`s in everyone’s interest to meet criteria’s required by the EU for integration, since Kosovo’s European Integration is achieved by respecting and supporting the rights of each community residing in Kosovo, whereas the Government of the Republic of Kosovo remains committed in accelerating the implementation of the activities and objectives derived from Strategy and Action Plan, with the aim of improving the life for Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities, as equal citizens of Kosovo, therefore we need to engage more in deepening the cooperation for a more rational use of the EU funds with the purpose of targeting the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities”.

Whereas the two ministers thanked Minister Çitaku for the invitation, expressing their willingness to cooperate as much as possible in order that implementation and effects of international support to be more evident and managed pursuant to the foreseen agenda.
