Minister Çitaku held a meeting with officials related to the Visa Liberalization Assessment Process

Prishtina, 14 November 2013 – Minister of European Integration, Vlora Çitaku, and Minister of Internal Affairs, Bajram Rexhepi held a coordination meeting with all local stakeholders on Visa Liberalization process. This preparatory meeting precedes the visit of the European Commission assessment mission, which will stay in Kosovo from 2 to 6 December of this year.

During the meeting, in more details ,regarding the focus of the assessment mission which in this phase will monitor the achievements of Kosovo`s institutions in respective Visa Liberalization fields such as Repatriation, Reintegration, Document safety, Migration and Asylum, was discussed. The assessment mission will verify to what extent were enforced the criteria’s, emerging from the roadmap, and recommendations identified in the latest visa report, and to what extent, the legal and strategic framework which is recently adopted, is enforced.

On this occasion, Minister Çitaku stated that: ‘”in the following days there will be inter-institutional coordinating meetings, especially in the municipal level, so that all preparations regarding achievements so far will be presented properly as with comprehensive materials as well respective statistics and information.”

The minister continued to emphasise that assessment missions will meet with central and local level officials, and in this manner, the comprehensive coordination is being carried out  to present the enforcement of all criteria`s emerging from: Visa Liberalization Roadmap, Visa Bulleting for February s and Action Plan for Visa Liberalization.

Minister Rexhepi reemphasised the need for harmonized statistical data, and urged from the relevant officials in order to present this data as accurate as possible, before the European Commission assessors.

At the end of the meeting, Minister Çitaku thanked all participants involved in this process for their excellent work so far and urged an additional commitment on this stage, because this is the moment when our achievements should be presented best as possible. At the same time, she urged that this commitment to prevail also during the continuation of this process.
