Meeting with representative of EU Member States in Brussels and with MEP`s

During the meeting with the representatives of the EU Member States, Minister Çitaku held an open discussion on next steps regarding Kosovo`s European Agenda and the role of member states in this process. Minister Çitaku requested by these countries to further support us regarding visa liberalization process. She assured that the necessary reforms are being taken by our country.

Minister Çitaku gave an overview of the ongoing commitments that will help accelerate the conclusion of negotiation process for Stabilization and Association Agreement, the beginning of which decision is finally expected to be set in June from Member States. ” Minister Çitaku stated that “the finalization of the EU facilitated  dialogue for normalization of relations with Serbia should be followed by a  focused engagement on meeting the reforms, economic development and the fight against corruption. ”

Representatives of Member States expressed high regards for the agreement achievement regarding normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia and at the same time expressed their support for Kosovo`s next steps in the integration process.

During the meeting with MEP`s engaged in Working Group for the Western Balkans, Minister Çitaku  thanked MEPs for the adoption of the resolution on Kosovo in the European Parliament which resolution calls countries that haven’t yet recognized Kosovo’s independence, to recognise, to do so. Deputy Prime Minister Kusari – Lila informed MEPs regarding the undertaken reforms in fulfilment of short term criteria which will serve in order to begin trade negotiations that are maximally prepared.
