Lirak Çelaj: Strengthening of cooperation with Civil Society for the necessary integration process

Prishtina, 20 February 2019 – In the workshop “Dialogue with Civil Society in the process of European Integration”, within the cooperation project of GIZ-MEI with CSOs (Civil Society Organizations), with the topic “European Integration Process and Better Co-operation with CSOs”, the Deputy Minister of European Integration, Lirak Çelaj, emphasized that the purpose of this workshop is to intensify and deepen the dialogue with civil society and other stakeholders in the framework of the integration process and their involvement in the implementation of reforms.

“The dialogue should be more sustainable, but also should be expanded by involving more actively the state institutions that implement relevant reforms. For more active and substantial involvement of Civil Society in defining political priorities in the framework of the European Reform Agenda (ERA)”, stated the Deputy Minister, Lirak Çelaj, and added that the new priorities are being negotiated with the European Commission and soon this document, along with the draft of the new action plan, will be discussed in detail with CSOs through a comprehensive and transparent dialogue.

With civil society organizations and other stakeholders, we have established a consultation mechanism based on the Guidelines governing this process. Deputy Minister Çelaj stated that this Guideline obliges the Ministry to organize two consultative meetings within each Stabilization and Association Subcommittee.

Following the speech of the Deputy Minister, the CSO leaders and experts of the integration process took the floor with constructive and fruitful discussions relating intensification of the European Agenda, focusing on the Guideline for cooperation between institutions and civil society for this very important process.
