Deputy Minister hosted in a meeting members of HANDIKOS: discusses about the rights of persons with disabilities

30 December 2015 – Prishtina. On the occasion of the end of the year, Deputy Minister Ilazi welcomed a group of members of the organization HANDIKOS – Ferizaj with whom visited the premises of the Kosovo Government and the Assembly of Kosovo.

Also, the Deputy Minister held a roundtable of discussion about the rights of persons with disabilities. During this meeting the Deputy Minister Ilazi stated that “the recent report of the European Commission for Kosovo highlights the need to strengthen the protection of persons with disabilities and we are convinced that the new draft law for amending and supplementing the Law No. 03-L-019 on Vocational Ability, Rehabilitation and Employment of people with disabilities will be a step forward.” Deputy Minister Ilazi further explained that the rights of people with disabilities are challenged by inadequate institutional support and health services,  as well as poor approach of the same.

Representatives of the organization HANDIKOS – Ferizaj discussed over the challenges they face seeking the need to increase the institutional support for projects aimed at supporting people with disabilities.

Ministry of European Integration will continue to provide support for persons with disabilities, in particular through increased cooperation with civil society organizations, such as HANDIKOS, in order to strengthen our joint commitment with the aim of improving the lives of persons with disabilities.
